We@Sea: a consortium heading for the Sea

The Dutch government has set a target for the development of 6,000MW of wind power in the Dutch part of the North Sea by 2020. In order to meet this target, knowledge and technical expertise are required to build and operate wind farms in a sustainable way. The provision of a subsidy to gain expertise and knowledge for this goal was the driving force in the formation of the consortium We@Sea.

Organization

The consortium We@Sea consists of two foundations: the foundation We@Sea and the foundation We@Sea/Bsik. The foundation We@Sea is an organization aimed at acquiring knowledge in the field of offshore wind energy. She has acquired a grant (Bsik) for a research and development programme of 7 outlines. The foundation We@Sea/Bsik is the channel for this funding, from SenterNovem to the project. Both foundations have the same management.

The foundation We@Sea is the secretary of the consortium and the management is financed under Bsik conditions: 50% is subsidised and the other 50% allocated proportionally among all projects.

Successful Conference "Offshore Wind Energy in the Netherlands - Results of We@Sea research in perspective"

We@Sea organised a successful conference on the results of the We@Sea R&D programme (2004-2009) on the large implementation of offshore wind energy in Den Helder,The Netherlands on December 1-2, 2009.
In 2004 We@Sea started, with the integrated research and development programme: "Large-scale wind power generation offshore" focused on Dutch activities. This project was divided into several research lines. The Conference was organised to present the final results of the programme. In 2010 the results will be presented in a book during a closing event of the programme.
The We@Sea conference was successful with about 150 participants with many different disciplines and backgrounds (policy makers, project developers, technicians, biologics and, consultants). The guests were interested in the results of the research and developments of offshore wind energy.
At the first day the main results per research line were presented and the international context by invited speakers as well.
The presentationsof the parallel sessions during the second day were more into the details per research line.

In the agenda of the conference, you can find the different presentations. Move your mouse over titles to link to the presentation.
